CLUB WIN JUNIOR TEAM AWARD

Wakefield Tomiki Aikido Club Junior Section scooped the Junior Team Performance of the Year award at the Wakefield District Sports Awards ceremony at Castleford Civic hall on 24th September.
The club fought off stiff competition from a number of highly successful local rugby and football teams to win the award in front of a packed hall.
The award was presented by the award sponsors and Wakefield Wildcats Assistant Coach and ex- player Paul Broadbent.
Guest of honour BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration commented "Wakefield Tomiki Aikido Club have enjoyed remarkable success with nine gold medals, two silvers and two bronze from 16 events, including overall team champion at the Junior national Championships and the Junior British Open."

Head coach Adrian Tipling explained Aikido and how the clubs success has developed through hard work and determination of the coaching staff and junior members. Club member Sean Mahoney (pictured in front of Harry Gration with his award above) was also runner up in the Junior male Sportsperson of the Year award for his contribution to the club success as well as success in other sports.
